Bishop Benson O’Otieno of Kenya Dies
From CECHome
The Patriarch’s Office has just received notification of the passing of the Most Rev. Benson Otieno. Bishop Benson found the Episcopal Church in Africa. His vision was that the Church would spread over all of Africa. When Bishop Benson first joined the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church (ICCEC) there were only churches in his province. Within three years of joining the ICCEC, the church had spread all over Kenya and was moving into the surrounding nations. Bishop Benson had a passion for the youth, and with the help of National Churches of Kenya started programs geared towards young people. He was committed to education and opened several schools, as well as a Bible College to prepare men for ordained ministry. He received his Bachelors of Theology in Lebanon, and his Masters in Theology from Morcomic Seminary in the United States. Bishop Otieno was consecrated on August 16, 1997 as the first CEC Bishop in Africa, he had a deep love for the ICCEC, and his work will continue in the multitude of men prepared for ministry. He is a man who touched the lives of many.
